I bought these to serve as supports for the walls of a terraced garden. Originally I built with permaculture principles, using found branches and wooden stakes, but a very destructive dog and the wear and tear of nature made me have to rethink the plan. Now the walls are sheets of corrugated galvanized metal, but the wooden stakes have been failing, so I decided to use these as a replacement. The soil is red clay—hard as a rock when dry, soft and mushy when wet. It helps to have a foot of material to bury, and the flange to help block rotation. I was able to easily insert them by hand and with a mallet. They’re lower profile than the wood stakes, which is nice, and because they stick up about a foot or more over the edge of the walls, I can use them to secure bird netting over my fruit trees and vines as a bonus. They are sturdy, though not as heavy as T posts. They are thicker than the u-channel posts I purchased from other vendors for my caneberry patches. I trust them to hold back the tons of dirt and water over the multiple levels of the terrace garden. Best of all, I don’t think my dog can defeat these… though I’m sure she’ll try! Only thing is that I wish I had more of them—if I need them for sure, I’ll order again. It is tempting to put them into raised beds and big pots to support burlap wraps in winter, but I don’t have enough left for that!

These work great in the garden for peas

This purchase (first time buyer) has been practical and sturdy for the veggie garden and chook pen. I’d happily buy them again as their purpose is flexible with the built in height, holes, hooks and bottom brace.

Strong steel, good quality, clips to insert the fencing into were bent in on some of them so had to pry with a flathead screwdriver. Happy with purchase.
