So, received this plastic welder for Christmas. I had two 5 gal plastic buckets that each had three 4in to 6in cracks on each bucket bottom. I decided to experiment repair on them. The gun unit performed exactly as advertised, although I put the first metal welding staple through the bucket bottom. I staple repaired one of the cracks and everything was going great. It was when I began welding with one of the plastic rods that I ran into problems. The gun got overheated melting and spreading the plastic rod and shut off. There is an internal shutoff safety feature that will shut down the gun if it gets overheated. Once the gun overheats your pretty much done until it cools down all the way. It will start to function again at "warm" level but internally is still too hot to stay running very long. So, I bought one of the old style of welders, that basically is just a wood burning iron with a triangle tip, and proceeded to repair my buckets. I used gun to install the staples and the iron triangle one to melt and spread. This one has it's place but your better off with both for something you want to completely seal. Like a bucket bottom.

Great product until after a month something popped inside and unit wouldnt heat up. Contacted cecor they did send me a replacment

The set screw for tip retention had been cross-threaded and broke off when trying unscrew it to insert a tip for the first time. I drilled it out and used a sheet metal screw instead to secure a tip to use the soldering iron. Very poor quality. Used it for the task I bought it for and threw it away. Would not recommend this particular model.
