I went from a 15lb cast iron anvil to the 66lb steel and my God, what a world of difference! Swinging the hammer on that cast iron was like hitting a pillow, as it gave me no energy back and was honestly causing me to consider giving up the hobby. Then I bought this anvil. I learned of it from @nopanicbutton on YouTube, where he advertised the 44lb anvil. I decided to go for the 66lb anvil because why not? Oh man, what a difference! I bounce tested it with a ball bearing and while I didn't do it scientifically, I was more than satisfied with the rebound. Once I started using it, I was incredibly pleased with how much it did NOT leave me tired like my old anvil did. Overall, I am completely satisfied with it.

This is a perfect size anvil to start on and at a great price. You just have to dress the edges because they are very sharp.

Very good beginner-lever anvil, especially for it's price. Good working surface, tough face and good size and weight. Unfortunately the pritchet hole (round hole at the base of the horn) is quite useless because of it's position and size, and holdfasts simply don't work on it. Otherwise, solid anvil.

This is a great 22-lb anvil for the average mechanic shop, heavy enough for beating on when you need to bend or straighten parts, yet small enough to store away when not needed. Good quality steel, should last my lifetime. For blacksmithing, get a bigger anvil. I also have a 100-lb anvil for serious work.
