For my application, I needed to cut the upright pole. Not a problem. The handrail is very nice and sturdy.

This railing solved a problem for my elderly mother and 2 steps at the front door to her front stoop. The mounting pole is way too high as I expected from other reviews so I cut down to a normal handrail height. Also, the anchors are metric and junk. I used 3/8" x 3" tapcons. Which also allowed me to use a standard 3/8in masonary bit vs. a 10mm which nobody has in stock. Count on going through a few bits if the concrete is old/high strength and you will need a hammer drill.

This is a replacement for the same item that I bought 2 years ago. The design and general quality are very good. However, the hinge which joins the upright to the handrail is a grey metal casting which broke after two years. This part is not under any strain or heavy loading, and it does not have to articulate. The break in the casting was therefore not due to metal fatigue, but due to a faulty casting. That part could easily be replaced by undoing a couple of screws. However, Vevor are unable to supply it as a spare part, so I had to buy the whole item again. I consider this to be a safety issue as well as a quality issue. The handrail simply came apart in my hand; if that had happened to an old or disabled person, they could have had a fall and be injured. Vevor should investigate the failed hinge and apply quality controls to make sure that the castings will not fail in the future. I hope that I don't have to replace the handrail every two years.

I have contacted customer service in three separate occasions. There is no way to talk to anyone on the phone. Despite showing them the photos they requested with the nicks in multiple places they offered me only $20 saying it must have been damaged in transit. There is NO damage to the packages in the areas nicked (which are again, multiple) and it was siting in a bunch of rust at the base with base already rusted out. Buyer beware … the quality control of Elat is being sent out seems to be nonexistent and if you have to deal with an issue you’ll be bounced around in email tickets and then the issue ignored.
