Excellent for the price

Sharpens the change great

For the price, it's hard to beat this sharpener. The motor is powerful, has good adjustment options, a light so you can see what you are doing, and comes with everything you need to get up and running quickly. The only thing that would make this better is to offer a "premium" bundle with CBN grinding wheels. But those can be easily ordered separately (which I did). The included wheels do work well if you dont want to spend the money on premium ones.

Good sharper

I find this chainsaw sharpener perfect for my needs. I'm sharpening a 1/4" Pitch .050 69 drive links chain, and am able to dial in exactly the desired, tiniest grind and have it repeatable for each link. I recently sharpened the original Homelite chain from the 70's and it's cutting like the Archer chains that I buy for this saw. I also like the great visibility when operating it. I work under magnification, and with the way the sharpener is built and the light, I can clearly see everything. This chains is small, and the chain clamp expects a thicker chain, so I took out one of the 2 spacer washers that sets the gap, and afterwards it was a lot easier to grip the chain without throwing off the alignment. And there's a stop that limits the upward motion of the motor. I unscrewed that because it's pointless and I'm careful to unplug the unit when the disc is exposed when up. 5 stars because it's doing what I wanted it to do and it's already paid for itself.

I have over 40 yrs of small engine repair, including sharpening thousands of chainsaws using expensive commercial sharpeners. I bought this just to test the accuracy of the sharpening and see how it stacks up to machines listed at $300 plus dollars, some even up to $600 or more. I was expecting failure with this unit. I have purchased 3 expensive machines over the years and returned them because they could not sharpen a chain accurately. Many of these high-priced machines have a problem sharpening both sides of the chain teeth to the same length and require measuring each time to ensure accuracy. If both sides of the chain are not sharpened to equal length, the saw will cut crooked and end up binding in the log, very dangerous when felling a tree. For a professional sharpening, this is unacceptable for the customer. This machine, right out of the box, with no special adjusting, was so accurate for each tooth on each side that it was not noticeable using a dial vernier caliper that measures 1,000 s of an inch. This is amazing and cheap to buy. The only question is how long it will last this way. I have done about 6 chains of various sizes so far, and it is perfect so far. I am very surprised. I will be using it for commercial sharpening to test it further. I am impressed.
