Q: What is the most important thing to look out for when using a heat press?
A: The most important aspect of a heat press is its ability to generate uniform temperatures on the printing plate. Cold spots on the printing plate are one of the most common causes of defective transfers. Cold spots occur when not enough heating elements were used in the manufacturing of the printing plate, or when there is a short circuit or break in the heating element within the printing plate.
Q: What does a transfer consist of?
A: A transfer consists of a carrier paper and printing ink. When heated to a specific temperature and pressed under high pressure for a specific time, the transfer inks are transferred to the printable material. Some inks adhere to the surface of the material, while others (sublimation) penetrate the material's coating.
Q: Is maintenance or cleaning required?
A: Our heat presses have non-stick coated top plates that can be easily wiped clean if the graphic was not applied correctly for any reason.
